These schools are typically local high schools where teens go when their regular high school doesn't work out for one reason or another. Alternative schools can provide better equipped teachers for the type of student and needs of the youth. Alternative schools are usually only available to teens when referred by their current school and are not readily available to youths outside of a metro area.
