Residential treatment centers are typically required by state governments to be licensed as such. To be safe, the parent should always verify that the treatment program or facility is properly licensed.
Residential treatment programs are excellent options for parents with teens in need of individual therapy as well as therapy in a group setting. These types of treatment centers for teens are usually not for detox or acute care of teens. They can provide these services, but it is not typical.
